Cold

Further reports of thunderstorms across Kent yesterday afternoon and evening, what lies in store?

There is a band of moderate/heavy rain moving roughly North East off of the French coastline. There does not appear to be any thunderstorms associated with the rain so far and the 06z GFS looks mostly stable.

Temperatures today are peaking about 9-10c. The cloud cover should also break as we go through the afternoon before the rainband moves in.

The forecast model, NAE is going for a drier night Tuesday into Wednesday but it will be colder then we have seen lately down to 4c! This means a cold Wednesday to come and a marginal day too.

A Very windy Wednesday to start with where we could be seeing 30-40mph wind speeds, one to watch as we set about our day. We also look like having a return to light to moderate showers during the day and with temperatures hitting 5c we could see some wintry showers (dew points and upper air temperatures suggest rain at this stage).

The precipitation eases with the wind as the day progresses into Wednesday night and a very cold night to come with temperatures close to freezing.

Spells of rain

Welcome to the start of British Summer Time! If you have not already changed all the clocks in your house - Your an hour behind.

It would appear Saturday's forecast was pretty much wrong. I'll redeem myself !

Sunday has been a good start but it is downhill from here. Already we have cloud moving in from the South West which looks to cloud things over for the rest of the day. There could also be the risk of some showers before a spell of rain arrives this evening.

Temperature wise today we're already seeing 9 and 10c popping up across the county. We may even squeeze a 12c before the rain sets in and the wind shall not be a concern with light winds lasting through until Tuesday.

So with the rain overnight Sunday it means there will be cloud cover obviously and this will keep temperatures from falling low, 7-8c the lows overnight.

Monday morning looks to start on a damp/wet note but there looks to be a drier interlude during the day with the rain turning more light and showery into the early afternoon. Another spell of rain moves in by the evening to give a wet end to the day.

Maximum temperatures for Monday around 9-10c and hovering around 9c overnight as well

A Smashing Saturday

We had some thunder and lightning reported yesterday for some areas of Kent during the afternoon. Today at least is looking quieter.

It's a partly cloudy day today but windy as well.  We're seeing up to 30mph across a few areas of Kent currently. Quite warm still though with 10-13c a range of temperatures and if the sun can hold out long enough we could see a degree on top of those. But there are signs of rain moving in this evening and overnight, at least for the more Northern and Western parts of Kent at least. It looks like the Southern and Eastern parts should remain dry.

The wind will ease off this evening and overnight the wind will become very light. Cloud-cover should also break so temperatures of 7-8c but to give a bright if not sunny Saturday to kick off with.

13-15c where the Sun can keep a strong hold through the day across Kent and with very light winds it's going to be feeling very pleasant indeed.

Even overnight we keep a mostly clear night so down to 5c as eyes turn to the South for rain moving in Sunday.
